Some of the activities waiting for you in Angola

Visit a local market, the center of a community’s life. You will be able to experience Angolan shopping, and maybe buy something for you and your family/friends. We definitely suggest buying some pieces of colourful fabric to have a dress made.

You’ll be able to do this in Luanda, Benguela and many other places along the way.

Eat local food: tasty seafood, soups and stews, among others. Accompany the food with some Portuguese wine or an ice-cold Angolan brew. We’ll suggest restaurants of all different levels, so that you can choose what’s best for you.

Bonus: participate in a real cooking class and learn how to take care (food-wise) of an Angolan family! Visit Join Angola’s website for some recipe suggestions you can try at home today!

Ride the waves in Cabo Ledo. An uncommon combination of winds makes the wave perpendicular to the beach. Luckily, the Carpe Diem resort is run by surfers and can rent you the needed gear. Additionally, you can take surfing classes that will make you see the ocean in a different way.

Visit the desert connecting Angola to Namibia: the oldest desert of the world! Here, you’ll be able to find Welwitschia mirabilis, a unique plant present only seen in this area of the world.

If you’re feeling adventurous, spend the night in the desert and see the stars from a very different perspective!

Do a safari in one of the national parks. Unfortunately, many animals disappeared from Angola during the civil war, but the country is making a great effort to bring many species back. Support these efforts by taking a safari and get a chance to see various animals, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and many more!

Don’t forget about the Palanca (Giant Sable Antelope) – pictured on the left – an important Angolan national symbol.
